The family is the most effective and economical system for fostering and sustaining the development of the child. Involvement of family in child’s programmes is critical to success of any intervention programmes. The involvement of parents as partners in the enterprise provides an ongoing system which can reinforce the effects of the programme (Bronfrenbrenner, 1974):
