Deficiency of community resources

Family and Child Welfare 3 (3+0)

Lesson 11 : Roles and Responsibilities of Community

Deficiency of community resources

Inadequate role implementation sometimes results from deficiencies in community resources. For example: A father will find it difficult to implement the income maintenance aspects of the parental role if there are no jobs available. When adequate employment opportunities, schools, recreational facilities, health services are lacking even social disorganization, overcrowding are characteristics of the community, parents may find it difficult to implement their role. The problems may result not only from the lack available resources but also from the lack of access to the group. Deficiency in environmental resources adversely affects family role enactment. Efforts to change community conditions that adversely affect social functioning are part of the responsibility of child welfare services.
