Inter-Governmental activities have provided co-ordination and Support to IYC activities on a variety of International fronts

European Economic Community (EEC):
The European Economic Community is making a community­wide public opinion survey specially designed for lye on attitudes and behaviour towards children and children's needs as well as preparing a booklet in six languages on the little citizens of Europe. Guidelines on toy security are being prepared. Studies are being conducted on the child and publicity. A campaign has been launched to sensitize children to environmental problems and consumptions. Credits of the European Social Fund have been increased and allocated to programmes for the children of migrant workers. Anti-poverty programmes and special education programmes, for migrant workers' children, pre-schools, and handicapped children have been developed, as well as programmes to promote equality in status and educational opportunities between boys and girls. The EEC European Fund for Development has financed new medical services and nutrition centres in a number of developing countries.

Council of European Representatives have Held Round Table with NGOs on ill-treatment and child labour, and underprivileged children. Reports are being prepared on the legal position of the child, medical care, and child labour in preparation for the drafting of a European Charter on the Rights of the Child. Special education programmes for the children of migrant workers and a series of studies on pre-school education are being undertaken along with preparation for a conference on "From birth to right": young children in European society in the 1980's followed by a seminar on "present-day cultural provisions for children in Europe." Also to be studied are the role of school health services measures against the prostitution of minors, the criminal aspects of ill-treatment of children, the social integration of children and two craft conventions on the custody of children and an International Tribunal (' settle child custody disputes.
