Introduction

Lesson 19 : Communication

Introduction

Communication is the process of human interaction that involves generating, organizing and sending ideas information to one or more receivers. The emphasis here is on human communications, especially interpersonal communications. Ideally, the meaning sent in a message should be comparable, if not identical; to the meaning received, if the process is to be effective. Imagine a personal or family life style with no communication. How would people demonstrate values, achieve goals, or meet their needs without some form of interpersonal contact? The development of human resources, decision making, and the managerial processes all involve communication. The purpose of communication is to change or to maintain behavior. The problem in communication is that the messages people send either clarify or confuse issues. Confusion or lack of understanding of communication can frustrate goal attainment.
