Any basic dart line can be eliminated by transferring the dart fitting into ease (if the dart is narrow) or gathers pleats and tucks (If the dart is wide). (Figure 7)
Ease gives a generalized fit and is less figure revealing, while darts give a “pin-pointed” fit that is revealing. Ease is a small amount of fullness that can be worked into the edge in such a way that it is there all but invisible. Gathers are larger amounts of fullness that can be worked in but will be visible.
