Difference between apparel and & furnishing fabric with regard to designs & fabric

Apparel Furnishing
Light weight material which drape gracefully Heavy fabrics which are durable
Mostly basic weaves are used Dobby, Jacquard, pile, double cloth constructions are used
Small and intricate designs Large figured designs & large prints
Variety of colours- pastels, bright colours, rich shades and neutrals Limited colours- dull and dark shades
Knits and woven Woven and lace material

These are some general differences which sometimes do not strictly followed; variation may be seen depending on fashion trends and individual choices. The selection of designs for apparels and furnishings differs due to the purpose for which these are used.
