Lesson 18 : Role of Local Bodies, Organizations and Extension Agencies in Programme Execution

Schools

School serves as a good medium for disseminating, ideas, knowledge and skills for changing the attitudes and outlook of children as well as their parents through the school teachers. School teachers are generally regarded as valuable sources of information in the rural areas as they help in bringing awareness amongst the rural people about the ongoing projects and help in creating a favourable climate for their involvement in project implementation. The senior students of the schools, if properly informed and motivated by the extension agent, they act as carriers of change in their family. Likewise, other educational institutions in the rural areas as well help in dissemination of knowledge and thereby promote programme implementation. The schools assist the communities in following ways –

  • In identifying important economic and social needs.
  • In gathering and spreading information required for the solution of community problems.
  • Help towards community improvement through ongoing programme by providing leadership, other facilities and enthusiastic teacher-student workers.
