  • Lipids are present as a complex mixture in fish and fishery products and are first fractionated into a number of groups by solvent extraction.
  • Resolution of the compounds within each group can then be carried out by thin layer chromatography.
  • The neutral lipids are separated with non-polar solvents and charged lipids with polar solvents.
