  • Distribution: Over much of Australia, apart from coastal areas, notably on the eastern side of the country Also absent from Tasmania
  • Size: 30 cm (12 in)
  • Diet: A mixture of cereal seeds notably canary seed and millets with sunflower seed as well.  Provide green stuff regularly
  • Sexing: Hens are duller overall lacking the yellow facial patches of mature cock birds and the undesirable of the tail is barred with yellow
  • Compatibility: Very compatible with other birds, even finches. Will not interfere even during breeding season.
  • Pet appeal: All the obvious appeal of cockatoos. Without any of the drawbacks.
