COCKATOOS

• Five genera of cockatoos are recognized, but generally those species belong to the genus Cacatua are most often seen, whereas the various black cockatoos are scarce in avicultural collections.
• All cockatoos can be instantly recognized by their  crests , which are raised  when the birds are excited or alarmed.
• The shape  and length of the crest feathers are variable however in the case of the Goffin’s cockatoos the creast is relatively short, whereas the component feathers are both long and broad in the Moluccan cockatoos.
