  • The behaviour of dog varies with breed, type of training, previous disagreeable experience and degree of human association.
    • The stray or free roaming dog that has little association with people, except, when fed or a owned dog, the owner is afraid of handling, in such case these dog must be handled carefully. They must be treated as if they are wild canids because they are liable to bite with the slightest provocation.
    • The well-cared-for pet or working dog and generally docile and respond to a low-pitched soothing voice can be handled deliberately.
    • The extremely nervous, frightened dog which shows anxious expression, rapid movement of head, constant pricking of the ears to every sound response/movement, pulling of lips back etc can bit the handler to any approach.
    • The vicious, aggressive dogs are generally are larger in size and are capable of inflicting serious injuries.
    • They will bite with little or no provocation.
    • These dogs do not always exhibit aggressiveness in an obvious manner but signs of potential viciousness can be seen.
    • The head is held low and these dogs will not look directly to the handler.
