9.1.8 Insemination and post insemination management

• One visitube containing 3.0 ml thawed diluted milt of carp is sufficient to fertilize 1.0-1.5 lakh of eggs.
• The thawed milt is mixed properly to the stripped eggs immediately and activated by adding few drops of water.
• Percentage of fertilization should be determined to evaluate gamete quality.
• The fertilized eggs are to be incubated in flow through system so as to remove the cryoprotectant trace from the eggs as it is toxic to the developing embryo.
