Gores can be added either to a skirt or a kameez/top resulting in a fitted bodice or hip and a flared out hem. The number of gores added depends on the type and availability of material, grain and the fullness desired for the hemline. It may range from 4 to 12; two in front and two at the back or six in the front and six at the back, respectively.
Grain line plays an important role in the drape of gored skirts or dresses. The center of the gore should be on the straight grain, which provides good evenly distributed flare and a proper slant on the seams.
