  • The genus Coriandrum consists of about six species of annual aromatic herbs of which Coriandrum satiuum is widely cultivated in India for its spicy fruits. The plant is considered to be a native of the Eastern Mediterranean region or Southern Europe. Precisely, Italy is presumed to be the native place of coriander. It is extensively cultivated in Morocco, Romania, India, France, Spain, Italy, the former USSR, Holland, Yugoslavia, Pakistan, Turkey, Mexico, Hungary, Poland, Argentina, Guatemala and to some extent in England and the USA.
