  • 'Haldwani selection' and 'English stock' are the varieties recommended for cultivation in India. Among the foreign varieties, `Gribovskii' is recommended for early sowing, and high herbage and seed yield. tesnogorodski' has best flavoured leaves and the highest oil content in the leaves and seeds, besides `1{-299', 1{-253', 'Mammoth Long Island' and `Herkules' which are the other varieties of the crop.
