Lesson 13:Orthographic Drawings – Sections

Identification of sections

  • Locations are referred on the floor plan and the elevation.
  • The mark used gives the section identification as shown.
  • Section through a single element such as a wall can have a short line through the wall locating the section. A direction arrow is used.
  • A section may continue through the building has identical marks on either end.
  • A section may be broken into parts & when all internal walls are different and a section is drawn for each type of wall.
  • If a section is to show some features as a series of interior partitions and the exterior walls, marks can be located on each of these elements and are drawn lined up left to right almost similar to a full building section but eliminates construction in between walls.
