Lesson 8: Geometry Involved In Textile Design Development

Translation

"Translation" simply means moving without rotating or resizing. A geometrical axis by which a figure under goes repetition vertically, horizontally, diagonally at regular interval while retaining the same orientation (Fig.9.6). Every point of the shape must move:

• The same distance
• In the same direction

Translation can be done either by angle-and-distance or by x-and-y.
