Recent trends in prints and designs

Indian textiles are marked by religious and regional variations and are characterized by the plethora of colours, textures and styles. In the past one decade the Indian fashion industry has moved from the embryonic stage to a blossoming take off. Indian designers are trying to revive and highlight the glorious traditional patterns and designs. As of now, fusion is the mantra for Indian designers. They have continuously worked on the concept of fusion wherein they try to infuse the concepts of Indian traditions with western clothing. With changing times ethnic Indian wear is being promoted as a style statement for the big bees of the foreign trade.

Some of the most commonly used motifs used in the recent times include calligraphy, sunrise, enigmatic mask, polka dots, rose, paisley, butterfly, Indian folklore, Geometrical designs inspired from Mughal monuments, Mughal jaalis, tree of life, translation of ancient traditions of artisans into contemporary ones, Chikankari, Bandhej, block printing, Phulkari patterns, colorful motifs that commute the imagery of being elevated and an amalgamation of French, Islamic and Indian motifs.
