Lipids are substances of biological origin that are insoluble in water and soluble in nonpolar solvents such as ether, chloroform, and benzene. They are a heterogeneous group of compounds found in all cells. They exhibit greater structural variety than the other classes of biological molecules.The lipids include fats, oils, steroids, waxes, fat-soluble vitamins and related compounds. |
