Pathogenesis

  • In man: Abdominal pain, diarrhoea and constipation may occur.
  • In cattle: Usually asymptomatic but heavy infection causes myositis, myocarditis and stiffness of muscle may be seen.

Diagnosis

  • Perianal swab for the presence of egg in man.
  • Cattle: PM examination.
