  • It is distributed throughout the world.  Mollies feed on both live and artificial diet. The body is characterized by a wide dorsal fin. Males are usually smaller than females and a gonopodium is present. Moon tail molly (Mollinesia formosa) with crescent shaped caudal fin, sail fin molly (M. latipinna) with a broad dorsal fin and black molly (P. sphenops) are some of the popular varieties of mollies.
