3.3.9 Wordpad

WordPad is a word processing application in accessories group. It will be more simple and easy to understand. WordPad document is stored as .DOC.  With WordPad we can write memos, letter, documents, with text and graphics. Using WordPad we can do the following.

  • Entering a text into a document.
  • Defining a document's format
  • Modifying document.
  • Putting graphics into document.
  • Printing a document.
  • File menu

File menu

commands are used for accessing the document.

  • New                        - allows typing a new document.
  • Save                       - used to save a document with extension WRI.
  • Open                       - to open an existing document.
  • Save as                   - to save a document in another name.
  • Print                        - to print a document in file or printer.
  • Page setup             - to set margins to paper and select a printer.
  • Print preview           - to view a paper margins.  

Format menu

Format menu is used to change text settings.

  • Font                          - To give different letter style to the text.
  • Bold                          - Bold the text. (Ctrl+B)
  • Italic                          - Italics the text. (Ctrl+I)
  • Strikeout                    - Strikeout the text.
  • Font size                    - To increase or decrease the size of the font.

Moving to different location of the document

  • Up arrow               - Previous line.
  • Down arrow          - Next line.
  • Ctrl+Right arrow    - Next word.
  • Ctrl+Left arrow     - Previous word.
  • Home Key            - Beginning of line.
  • End Key               - End of line.
  • Ctrl+Home           - Beginning of document.
  • Ctrl+End              - End of document.

Selecting Text

Selecting is also known as blocking.  Blocking is used to select the desire part of the text.  Blocking can be done by dragging with mouse on the text from starting to end position or by using shift arrow keys.
