Social Services by Youth

If the energy and enthusiasm of youth are not properly harnessed to constructive works, the misguided youth may be use them for art-social activities. It is portable to make are of the youth energy not only for their own welfare but also for the welfare of the country. For this there is need to have a strong and efficient organization to give necessary guidance to the youth. Social welfare services are provided directly to the youth leaders.

Three types of organization through which the youth could undertake social service.

  1. Agencies working in the field of rural development and running community welfare centers, adult literacy relief work etc.
  2. An organization of the youth under a name like the ‘Yuvak sera dal’ which is formed among youth themselves.
  3. Social service league of colleges with president and vice president from the staff and other office – bearers from the students.

    • Medical student - could give medical aid
    • Engineering students – supervise student’s work camps
    • Economic students – economic surveys
    • Students of training college – educational work

The responsibility of planning and execution of the programme will be looked after by the agency, care should be taken in selection and allocation of work to the youth. Apart from providing the necessary orientation to the youth, they need proper guidance and supervision.
Some of the programmes in which youth and students can associate themselves:

  1. Community works
  2. Adult education and literacy
  3. Organization of Village Youth and Women
  4. Imbibing national consciousness
  5. Cultural and recreational activities
  6. Village industries and arts and crafts
  7. Improvement of educational activities
  8. Cleanliness, sanitation, diet and health
  9. Campaigns against diseases and epidemics
  10. Health and population education projects
