2.4. Affinity chromatography
Affinity chromatography is a form of adsorption chromatography in which separation and purification of molecules are achieved on the basis of their specific biological interactions. This technique was originally developed for the purification of enzymes and later extended to nucleotides, nucleic acids, immunoglobins, membrane receptors, whole cells and cell fragments. This technique has got high selectivity and high resolution. The molecules are purified in concentrated form several thousand-fold with high recovery by this technique. |
