2.2.2.4. Composite gels
Sephracyl is a composite gel which consists of allyl dextran cross-linked with N,N’methylene bis-acrylamide. They are stable and possess a uniform pore size. They are more rigid to withstand high flow rates and high operational pressure. They are used for the separation of high molecular weight components. Ultragel AcA is another composite gel made by crosslinking polyacrylamide with agarose to form a semi-rigid beaded packing material. They also posses uniform pore size. Composite gels are supplied as a suspension in buffer containing preservative. The fractionation range of the composite gels are given in Table 2.2.2.4. |
