2.6. Gas Chromatography

Gas chromatography is a technique used for the separation of volatile organic compounds based on their differences in their partitioning behavior between mobile gas phase and stationary phase in the column. Gas solid chromatography (GSC) was first invented by German Fritz Prior in 1947. Gas liquid chromatography (GLC) was later invented by Archer John Porter Martin in 1950 and it is now popularly known as Gas Chromatography.
