Leaflet (Flyer)

It is a single sheet of paper used to present information on only one topic in a concise manner and simple language. It may be of 8-12 pages in size.

Preparation of leaflet

  • Select a suitable topic based on farmer’s felt need. There should be only one idea, technique or practice.
  • Collect all the relevant points and select only the most essential.
  • Use simple and short familiar words.
  • Include relevant pictures, illustrations, etc, in order to help the farmer’s understanding.
  • Refer the local situations wherever is possible. And remember all the points for written materials.
  • Give the source for obtaining further informations.
  • Personal sentences, short paragraphs with less technical terms, illustrations, etc. are desired characteristics of the leaflet.

Advantages

  1. Reaches the large number of literate farmers.
  2. Preserved and used for future references.
  3. Comparatively cheap and easy to make.
  4. Provide accurate information.

Disadvantages

  1. Less useful in low literacy area.
  2. It will loose its significance if not carefully prepared and used.
