  • The American buff goose is a heavy breed with a stance like the Embden, smooth breasted and dual lobed.
  • General characteristics: male and female

Carriage: Upright

  • Type: Body moderately long, broad, plump. Back medium length, broad and smooth. Breast broad, deep and full. Wings medium in size and smoothly folded close to body. Tail medium in length with broad, stiff feathers.
  • Head: Broad, oval, strong. Bill of medium length, stout and tapering evenly to well rounded end. Eyes large and full.
  • Neck: Rather upright and strong in appearance.
  • Legs and feet: Lower thighs medium length, well fleshed. Shanks stout, straight, moderately long. Toes straight and well webbed.

Colour

  • Plumage of both sexes: A rich shade of buff throughout with markings similar to the Toulouse.
  • Bill orange. Eyes dark hazel - legs and webs orange.
