6.1.3.2 Carbohydrate

Fish have a much more limited capacity for metabolism of dietary carbohydrate than omnivorous birds and mammals. Excessive carbohydrate levels, particularly common in ornamental cyprinids, can result in hepatocyte degeneration and excessive glycogen deposition.
