6.1.4.1.2 Tocopherols(Vitamin E)

The main role of vitamin E seems to be a component of a complex protective mechanism against the toxic effects of free radicals. Another role of similar importance appears to be the moderation of the structure of biological membranes. Clinical conditions associated with vitamin E deficiency include muscular dystrophy, steatitis, digestive and cardiac muscle pathology and anaemia. Affected fish are dark in colour, with a shrunken abdominal musculature.
