Lesson 5 : Ready To Eat Breakfast Cereals

History

  1. The concept of cereal foods originated in USA in 1860’s that gave rise to several cereal processing industries.
  2. Initially the industries produced products based on corn. Later wheat, rice and oats were introduced.
  3. Until late 1950’s the market for ready to eat breakfast cereals was small, with subsequent rapid growth it has become one of the dramatic success stories of modern times.
  4. Ready to eat cereal products took over breakfast food market.
  5. At present, several multinational companies are producing more than a hundred brands of breakfast cereals.
