Lesson 10: Video Production Process and Studio Procedures

Postproduction

The first tasks in this phase are the ones related to packing up the equipment, striking (or removing) the sets, paying up the services hired, etc. However, after the initial tasks are taken care of, the real work of preparing for editing and editing have to be taken up.
Preparing for editing involves, logging the footage shot, getting the required graphics made, selecting the music required for beginning, ending and other parts of the programme. Graphics would include apart from visuals, titles, credits and supering text like scrolls and names. With the advances in digital technology and computer assisted editing techniques, extraordinary vistas have opened for creativity. Digital visual effects allow for sleek packaging of programmes. However, it should be born in mind that technology is only a tool for conveying your ideas with greater clarity. In the excitement of using digital techniques, one should not be overly dependent on it or over use it.
