Printed designs

Printed designs: Textile printing is used for production of attractive designs with well defined boundaries, made by the artistic arrangements of a motif or motifs in one or more colours (Fig.2.12). Dyes and pigments are applied locally or discontinuously to produce the various designs. In fact, printing is described as localized dyeing. The application of a pattern to fabric by the use of dyes, pigments, or other coloured substances in printing may be effected by a variety of hand or machine processes. Main processes which are commonly used for printing are screen, block, heat transfer and roller printing.
