Motif

Motifs are basic and the smallest units of a design which are combined together and arranged in various ways to form a design and pattern. They are the fundamental building blocks of all patterns. Motif is a very general term to describe any number of details of a work of art which are recognizable as a repeat unit. Motifs are required for designing any art.

Types of motifs: Motif may be symmetrical or asymmetrical.
