3.2.2. Striated muscle

Striated or striped, muscle constitutes a large fraction of the total body weight. The movement of the limbs depends on the contraction of striated muscle and posture is maintained by them. Both the ends of most striated muscles are attached to the skeleton and thus are often called skeletal muscles. They are attached to the bones by tendons. Each striated muscle has blood vessels and nerves associated with it. the vessels and nerves associated with it. The vessels transport blood to and from the muscle, supplying oxygen and nutrients and removing CO2 and other wastes.
