When a design is being planned to decorate the surface of some particular object and it seems desirable to keep it as a single unit. They are usually self contained composition if they have a repeat it is often a large one. They are called as the spaced design because they have singular relation to the area occupied by them. They fill an area of fabric in one single composition such as table cover, rug, scarf, saree pallav, wall panel etc. (Fig.7.8.).
While planning spaced designs, the most important factor is to consider the shape of surface to be decorated whatever round, square etc. Motif should confirm to that particular shape of the area and should become a part of it. With intelligent use of colour, lines and shapes, a well planned design can be made.
