Extra warp figures

The weft figures are created by additional set/sets of weft, over the ground weave, using additional shuttles. The most popular small floral designs across the width are found in brocades, or variety of made-ups like dress material and garment accessories (Fig.10.28). Creating extra weft figures is relatively elaborate and labour intensive. Often the extra weft yarns floating from one motif to the next on the reverse side of the fabric is cut, to avoid getting pulled or to avoid irritation to the skin, when yarn being coarse, rough and inflexible.
