Under lays

Under lays are drawings or parts of drawings which are placed under the original drawing and traced on the original similar to the use of templates. These are prepared for the particular drawing and must be prepared to the correct scale and carefully aligned. The underlay is first positioned under the drawing and aligned with light guidelines and then traced on the drawing. Under lays are commonly prepared for doors, windows, walls, stairs, lettering, title blocks etc.
