United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization assist, in universal and compulsory primary education, promotion of science and technology. It helps to work out text books and promotion and teaching of national languages to the children of the migrant workers, training of staff for professional children and assist projects to set up production of children's books and Libraries. UNESCO's action is concentrated on the most destitute children.

During the 'International Year of the child’, the UNESCO's aim was to encourage countries to review their national and local programmes of action for children in the light of their own needs and priorities. Being interested in international human rights, UNESCO helps to promote long-term and short-term children's programme within the countries. A National Commission on UNESCO is functioning as part of the Ministry of Education in India.
