Secateur

This is a very useful handy tool for pruning both herbaceous and woody stems of moderate thickness. Secateur may also be used for taking cuttings for propagation. The types of secateurs that are in use include by-pass, curved or sideĀ¬-anvil, parrot-beak. By-pass and parrot-beak secateurs have a scissor-like action, anvil secateurs have a sharp straight-edged upper blade that cuts against a square-edged lower anvil. Soft-stemmed plants are cut with light secateur, while for pruning woody plants of about 1.0 cm thickness usually heavy-duty secateurs are needed. Flower gatherers hold the stems of flowers after cutting. These are useful tools for cutting flowers.
