Rakes are useful for leveling and breaking up the soil curst before planting. They are also used for collecting garden debris, stones and brick bats, etc., from a bed, scarifying the grass surface, etc. Rakes of different types are used for different garden operations.

Garden rake: This type of rake consists of 8 or 12 or 16 teeth which are short, broad and curved and is useful for leveling soil and cleaning soil surface by collecting the debris.
Lawn rake:Lawn rakes of different types are used for clearing up fallen leaves, decayed grasses and for removing small stones and debris. These are also used for raking the surface after scraping off the grass and sprinkling the fertilizers.
