SIAMESE FIGHTER

  • A tank of 30 x 30 x 60 cm size or even a wide mouth bottle may serve as breeding containers for this fish. The water level in the tank during the breeding is maintained at 25 cm height. The male and female brood fish are kept at 1:1. The male builds a bubble nest with the help of air bubbles. During courtship, the male induces the female to lay the eggs. About 200 oily eggs are seen floating at the surface in the midst of bubble nest. Soon after spawning, the female is removed. The male cares for the eggs, which hatch out after an incubation period of 48 hours. After this period, the male is also removed. The tender fry during early development are fed with infusorians or egg yolk squeezed through bolting silk cloth.
