• Breeding tank of 3-10 litre is required for each breeding set and the brood male and female are maintained at 1:3, water temperature of 20-25ºC, and pH 7.0-7.5 are ideal. One teaspoonful of common salt (sodium chloride) dissolved in 1 lit of freshwater is known to promote breeding. A medium sized female may give birth to about 60 young ones once in every 25 days. Young fishes are fed with sieved zooplankton and finely pelleted artificial feeds.
