Lesson 11 : Fasteners and Hems

Rolled or whipped hem

This may be used for delicate fabrics. It is commonly used to finish the raw edges of handkerchiefs, ruffles, chiffon dresses and circular skirts. This can be done either with hand using overhand stitches or on a machine which has a special presser foot viz. pico foot which automatically rolls the edge.
