Resist Dyeing

Dyeing is the method of colouring the fibre (stock), sliver, yarn, warp beam, and fabric by dipping in the coloured solution i.e. the dye, at estimated percentage shade, concentration, time and temperature. The man-made and synthetics fibres are sometimes solution dyed at polymer stage itself. However, the present trend is to dye the garments, to meet the latest and in-demand effects.

Dyeing with basic equipment is carried at cottage level, factory level, and mill level either manually or mechanically. Dyeing enriches the surface of the plain white fabric and increases consumer acceptability. It is possible not only to produce tremendous colour range but also tints and shades for each colour along with shaded effects by varying the percentage shade. However, the effects obtained from dyeing alone may be limited when matched with resist dyeing techniques such as tie and dye and batik.
