Inverted pleats are of equal depth and two folds of each pleat are turned towards each other to meet at the centre. These pleats have two fold lines and a common placement line. The back folds face away from each other, the reverse side of box pleat is called as inverted box pleat. These are often seen on skirts and shirt yokes. It is usually designed at centre front or centre back and looks like two knife pleats facing away from each other on the underside. With right sides together,the pleat line is pinned and tacked along the pleat line from the lower edge. This is later stitched along the seam line and pressed open. When made in series, both box and inverted box pleats look alike, as they are the two sides of the series.
