4.7.3 Technical barriers
The technology development process in fisheries is not done in the ideal manner in many instances. In aquaculture, most of the successful technologies except carp culture and carp seed production have emerged from private sources only and not from government research organisations. One of the major drawbacks with the technologies evolved is that they are not properly tested in the farmers fields. This kind of trend will affect the performance of the technologies in the field and will consequentially affect the credibilioty of the research and extension organisation among the clientele. Hence, technology generation process should involve proper analysis of the field situation to decide on the requirements and facilities to plan for evolving the right type of technology. The technology should be a relevant one to the field conditions. |
