Tuning fork phonendoscope method

UNING FORK PHONENDOSCOPE METHOD

• The procedure is to place a vibrating fork against the skin where its tone is picked up by phonendoscope. When both instruments lie over the same organ, the sound is loud and distinct.

Uses:

• This method is useful in determining the exact limits of individual organ and aids in diagnosing the space occupying structures such as tumor, abscess, cysts etc in lung.
