Abomasocentesis

AMBCASOCENTESIS
  • Location: Between sternum and umbilicus slightly towards the right side to the middle line. Use 16 gauge needle about 8-10 cm long, it should be differentiated from ruminal fluid (ovlie green in color) whereas abomasal fluid has coffee color and sour odour.
  • pH is 2-4. Testing for pH (liptak test)
  • where as rumen has a pH of 5.5-7.0
