2.4.2. Method Demonstration

2.4.2 Method Demonstration

This is the oldest form of teaching method long before the language was developed. It is relatively a short time demonstration given before a group to show how to carry out an entirely new practice or old practice in a better way. It is aimed to import the skills of doing the practies.

“The method demonstratio is a group teaching method that shows a group of audience how something is done step by step for the purpose of teaching new techniques and practices to the clientle”. It is not providing the worth of the practice, but it tells how to do it. It is not an experiment, but it is a teaching effort. Here, the extension worker shows the step by step procedure of the practice. The farmers watch the process and listen to the oral explanation to clear up the points. To increase the farmers’ confidence in their ability, in the presence of the extension worker, as many farmers (audience) as possible will repeat the demonstration. The extension worker himself or a trained leader gives the method demonstration for the purpose of teaching a new skill to a group.

Eg: Demonstraction on GRC operation; included breeding; handling & bredons; preparation of value-added fish products.
